Starfield cuts more sulphides at Ferguson Lake

Vancouver — While drilling infill drilling the West zone mineralization on its Furguson Lake property in Nunavut Starfield Resources (SRU-V) intersected three sulphide lenses within a 25-metre interval .

The company has completed hole FL-105A to a total depth of 971 metres. It was collared in the West zone where an inferred resource of approximately 55.14 million tonnes grading 0.95% copper, 0.59% nickel, 0.065% cobalt, 1.35 grams palladium, 0.23 grams platinum using a 1.0% copper+nickel cutoff grade.

Drill hole FL-105A was collared about 100 metres northwest of drill holes FL-91 and 104 and approximately 200 metres west of hole FL-84 and 99. These holes intercepted approximately 20.8 meters, 14.4 meters, 45.9 meters, and 31.9 meters of sulphide mineralization respectively. In hole FL02-105A three distinct massive sulphide lenses were intercepted over a 25.7 metre interval between 799.28 and 824.98 metres down-hole.

Highlights of the drill results are as follows:

  • Hole FL-105A cut 6.6 metres grading 1.49% copper, 0.91% nickel, 0.118% cobalt, 2.17 grams palladium and 0.45 grams platinum per tonne, starting 799.3 metres down-hole. This included a 4.9-metre interval that averaged 1.33% copper, 1.03% nickel, 0.116% cobalt, 2.34 grams palladium and 0.49 gram platinum.
  • Further down the hole at a depth of 809.4 metres FL-105A cut 2.2 metres averaging 1.0% copper, 1.09% nickel, 0.109% cobalt, 3.18 grams palladium and 0.53 gram platinum.
  • Another interval in the same hole was cut at a down-hole depth of 821.8 metres. This 3.15-metre section averaged 1.20% copper, 1.0% nickel, 0.107% cobalt, 2.78 grams palladium and 1.06 grams platinum. This included a 1.0-metre interval that averaged 1.23% copper, 1.04% nickel, 0.11% cobalt, 3.32 grams palladium and 2.60 grams platinum.

Additional drilling is ongoing and is focused on further delineating the shallow eastern portion of the West Zone as part of a 22-hole program designed to identify a potential open-pit resource. A second drill rig is spinning on hole FL-119, collared up-dip of FL-112, an 800 metre stepout west of the nearest hole FL-101.
