St. Elias reports strong gold grades from mini bulk sample

St. Elias Mines (SLI-V) has reported some impressive grades from an ongoing mini bulk sampling program at its Tesoro gold project in southwestern Peru.

The company has processed 131 tonnes of ore averaging 0.92 oz. gold (28.6 grams) per tonne, processed at a nearby Dynacor Gold Mines milling facility.

Of the 131 tonnes, 56 tonnes came from the C1 vein and returned an average gold grade of 1.29 oz. gold per tonne. The remaining 75 tonnes was extracted from the A4 vein and averaged 0.64 oz. per tonne.

St. Elias says that there were a few higher-grade pockets within these samples, including 14 tonnes grading 1.79 oz. gold per tonne and 13 tonnes grading 1.24 oz. per tonne in the C1 vein’s Canchete zone. From the A4 vein’s Central zone a 13-tonne sample averaged 1.04 oz. gold.

So far, St. Elias has processed 1081 tonnes of ore with an overall average of 0.87 oz. gold per tonne. The company has identified five mineralized zones with more than 50 quartz veins extending across a combined length of 9 km. The veins tend to be narrow but the grades tend to be significant, extending along strike for kilometres and to depths of up to 1,000 metres. St. Elias says neither the strike potential nor the depth potential have been fully evaluated.

The Tesoro project is on a 20 sq. km property and is located on the Nazca-Ocona gold belt.
