South Malartic tables Croinor prefeasibility

Junior South Malartic Exploration (MSU-M) has released the results of a prefeasibility study on the Croinor gold project, 75 km from Val d’Or, Que.

The study, conducted by MRB & Associates, was based on 773 diamond drill holes and whatever geological data were available. Included was a 20-metre thick, 700-metre-long zone of mineralized quartz veins orientated in up to three directions. The zone has a known depth of 150 metres.

At a cutoff grade of 3 grams per tonne, the measured resource is estimated to be 178,506 tonnes grading 5.35 grams gold. There is, in addition, an indicated resource of 32,841 tonnes grading 5.6 grams gold, plus an inferred resource of 16,950 tonnes grading 4.76 grams gold.

When the cutoff grade is lowered to 1 gram gold per tonne, the measured resource grows to 787,916 tonnes grading 2.54 grams, the indicated resource enlarges to 217,704 tonnes of 2.3 grams, and the inferred category swells to 134,541 tonnes of 2.13 grams.

The Croinor narrow-vein-type gold deposit is said to be geologically similar to the Sigma-Lamaque complex of McWatters Mining (MCW-T). There, near-surface reserves have increased to 16.3 million tonnes grading 3.02 grams gold per tonne, or 1.6 million contained ounces.
