Some comments from our readers

When it comes to making suggestions, readers of The Northern Miner don’t pull any punches. Many respondents offered good sound advice but, while we received many comments on a job well done, there was a good number who took the opportunity to let us know where they felt we’d fallen short.

Here’s a brief selection of the good, the bad and the somewhere-in- between. “I would like to see more thorough coverage of corporate events,

labor disputes and mine closures — in short, coverage of events which have a major impact on metals and stock markets.”

“For the past three decades I have found the items and information gleaned from The Northern Miner remarkably reliable.”

“I am impressed by The Northern Miner’s calibre of reporting and its supportive attitude to the mining industry.”

“I’m lost when it comes to grams per tonne. So is my broker. It would be nice to have a conversion table.”

“Too bad the U.S. doesn’t have a weekly newspaper like this.”

“Of the eighteen financial letters, etc., I receive monthly, The Northern Miner is my favorite.”

“One wonders if staff writers have ever been involved in actual mine finding or development. It all seems easy when viewed from the comfort of a desk.”

“From time to time articles appear in the Miner that distort the facts. I would just suggest that all stories be researched well prior to publication.”

“As a journal of recent events it is of the highest calibre: as a preview of future events, trends, there is a lack.”

“A little too much on speculative `moosepasture’ stocks.”

“Your coverage seems biased to eastern- based companies.”
