Infill drilling completed by Saskatchewan Mining Development Corp. on the Fork Lake gold property in Saskatchewan, has confirmed the continuity and high grade nature of the zone, the company says. Partners in the project include Golden Rule Resources (30%), Mahogany Minerals Resources (19%) and Shore Gold Fund (15%). smdc holds a 36% interest.
The 1988 winter drill program, which consisted of 26 holes, tested a 500-ft section of the zone along strike and 330 ft down dip. Work on the northeastern extension of the zone yielded weak gold values under Jasper Pond. Drilling will continue on the same structure towards the Roxy showing. Here, a drill hole intersected 14.8 ft grading 1.29 oz gold per ton.
Some of the better results from the Jasper zone include 15 ft grading 0.513 oz and 8.2 ft assaying 1.28 oz in holes 61 and 62 respectively. Another high grade section from the Jasper zone assayed 1.34 oz across 19.7 ft. The partners plan to initiate a feasibility study in the near future.
