Operator Calpine Resources (VSE) has six diamond drill rigs continuing to test the 21 zone discovery at Eskay Creek with both stepout and infill drilling. The company and equal partner Stikine Resources (TSE) are funding the 1990 program at their joint venture property north of Stewart, B.C., which is aimed at proving up reserves on the 21 zone. An independent reserve calculation is expected to be released sometime in early March.
Assays (uncut) were released by Calpine for the last hole of its second-phase 1989 drill program. Hole 90-197, drilled on section 2+00N, returned 65.6 ft. grading 0.58 oz. gold per ton and 1.48 oz. silver. The mineralized intersection extends from 570.7 ft. to 636.3 ft. It includes 13.1 ft. of 1.26 oz. gold and 0.49 oz. silver and 13.1 ft. of 1.05 oz. gold and 3.36 oz. silver. Values for lead, zinc and copper are still pending.
Base metal assays were also released for a number of holes drilled in 1989. Some of the better results (uncut) are: 13.1 ft. of 1.261 oz. gold, 97.69 oz. silver, 5.93% lead, 10.38% zinc and 1.24% copper; 26.2 ft. of 8.12 oz. gold, 251.89 oz. silver, 8.36% lead, 19.15% zinc and 2.40% copper; 13.1 ft. of 6.31 oz. gold, 264.25 oz. silver, 5.72% lead, 18.35% zinc and 2.92% copper; and 16.4 ft. of 1.12 oz. gold, 61.40 oz. silver, 1.32% lead, 3.70% zinc and 0.32% copper.
