Production of 24,000 oz gold has been announced by Galactic Resources from its Summitville mine during the first six months of 1987. The mine, which began heap-leaching operations in June, 1986, produced about 78,000 oz gold during its first 12 months.
During June of this year, almost 1.4 million tons of ore and waste, averaging in excess of 46,500 tons per day, were moved. Average grade of the ore mined in June was 0.05 oz gold per ton.
A program to expand capacity of the Summitville gold recovery facility from 3,200 gallons per minute to about 4,600 gallons per minute, an increase of more than 33%, has been initiated.
