Silverside mill, tailings pond almost ready

Final construction of the mill and tailings pond is under way at the North Cobalt silver property being developed in a joint venture by Silverside Resources and International Platinum Corp. Production at the site is expected to begin in November.

The mill will utilize both gravity and flotation methods for a recovery rate of at least 94.5%. Daily milling capacity will start at 80 tons; there is the potential to increase the capacity to 150 tons per day. Average grade of the material to be milled is expected to be 25-30 oz silver per ton for an initial production of at least 2,000 oz per day.

Silverside President A. Leith Hellens reports a drilling exploration program on the west side of the McKenzie fault is under way to establish new sources of ore. Drilling will also take place on the southeast portion of the property where previous underground drift sampling and drilling of the archean basement has encountered massive sulphide mineralization. The massive sulphide zone will be tested by drilling and downhole geophysics. In other news, Silverside has completed a program of linecutting, mapping and rock sampling on its Beaverlodge platinum property near Uranium City, Sask. The property is under option from Saskatchewan Mining Development Corp. and agip Canada.

Mr Hellens reports Silverside has acquired an additional claim group comprising 775 ha which is contiguous to the Beaverlodge platinum property. Exploration on this property will be funded by Silverside (49%), smdc (25.5%) and agip (25.5%).
