Silver used in bandages

Advanced Medical Solutions (AMS) of the U.K. will use silver-based fibres in its bandages following an agreement to join forces with Noble Fiber Technologies (NFT) of Pennsylvania.

Silver is used as an anti-microbial agent for controlling infection. The Noble Fibre technology uses a layer of pure silver, bonded to the surface of a textile fibre. This enables it to be incorporated into a dressing and allows silver to be released into the wound.
