Privately owned Atikokan Resources has reported high silver grades from a surface showing 32 km northeast of Atikokan, Ont.
Geologist Raymond Bernatchez says the showing has been traced along a 500-metre strike length and across a width of 15-16 metres.
The silver mineralization occurs as native silver and argentite and exists in lens-like, silicified and sericitized bodies that appear to conform to the bedding of the host rocks — a sequence of mainly felsic, fragmental rocks. Some grab samples contained up to 416 oz. silver per ton.
Stripping, and possibly diamond drilling, will be carried out this year.
