Mapping and sampling by Minera Sierra Madre (ASE) on the former-producing Tucabe property in Sonora state, Mexico, have confirmed the presence of a gold-bearing structure.
The 40-metre-wide zone is sheared and brecciated in an andesitic, volcanic sequence. It has a strike length of 1.2 km and is open in both directions along strike.
Situated 30 km south of two producing gold mines, the property is estimated to contain 719,610 tonnes averaging 3.4 grams gold per tonne.
Surface and underground samples from the former-producing mine averaged as high as 2.67 grams gold, whereas the average head grade from 32 composite samples was 1.4 grams gold and 17.8 grams silver. Gold recovery was 95%.
Drilling will attempt to confirm the presence of a leachable gold deposit minable by open-pit methods.
