Sherwood homes in on high grade at Kutcho

Vancouver Sherwood Copper (SWC-V) continues to release high grade copper numbers from its 2008 drill program at its Kutcho property in northern B.C., about 300 km north of Smithers.

With a focus on the near surface Main zone, one of three mineralized areas on the property, Sherwood has so far released 49 results from their 78 hole campaign.

Starting 122.9 metres below surface, hole 103 cut 15.8 metres grading 3.86% Copper, 4.16% zinc, 0.97 gram gold per tonne and 62.4 grams silver per tonne. Hole 128 fetched an 18.3 metre intersection between 38.5 and 56.7 metres grading 2.54% copper, 0.77% zinc, 0.79 gram gold and 65.6 grams silver.

Sherwood says the holes fill in previously identified gaps and extend the mineralized dip length.

Adding to the 221 holes drilled up to 2007, Sherwood plans on updating the resource estimate for the Main zone by the end of this year and including the new numbers in its ongoing feasibility study.

As part of a preliminary economic assessment completed in June 2008, Sherwood announced 17.3 million tonnes grading 1.56% copper, 2.12% zinc, 0.29 gram gold and 26 grams silver at Kutcho.

Of that the Main zone made up 15.65 million tonnes grading 1.65% copper, 2.15% zinc, 0.32 gram gold and 26.1 grams silver.

If the project goes ahead, Sherwood would target this zone, putting in a starter pit at its eastern extent the area where Sherwood drilled hole 128. With a mine life of 7.3 years, Sherwood plans on processing 4,000 tonnes a day.

Sherwood chief operating officer Kevin Weston says the proposed mine would look a lot like its Minto mine in the Yukon, a 3,200 tonnes per day copper operation.

“Minto could be duplicated at Kutcho,” he says.

On news of the drill results Sherwood dropped 15 to close at $4.50.
