Shear cuts narrow dyke

Drilling by Shear Minerals (SRM-V) on the Aylmer Lake West property in the Northwest Territories has culminated in the intersection of a narrow kimberlite dyke.

Three lake-based targets identified from spring geophysical surveys were tested in the recent program. Drilling encountered a 1.6-metre-thick interval of olivine macrocrystic kimberlite that is believed to be hypabyssal facies. Samples have been submitted for microdiamond analysis.

The target was a coinciding magnetic low and electromagnetic anomaly. Measuring 125 metres long and 50 metres wide, it occurs east of, and subparallel to, the Nicholas Bay kimberlite.

Shear and joint-venture partner Diamondex Resources (DSP-V) are reviewing the new data. Plans call for summer drilling to test several land-based targets, possibly including Nicholas Bay.

The Aylmer Lake West property is 340 km northeast of Yellowknife and 95 km southeast of the Ekati diamond mine. Shear is the operator and holds a 49% interest; Diamondex holds the remainder.
