Settlement reached between Northgate and Union

Vancouver – Two days of strike action is ending at Northgate Minerals’ (NGX-T) Kemess mine, in north-central British Columbia, following a final settlement agreement reached with unionized workers.

A new 3-year labour agreement has been ratified by Kemess employees represented by the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 115. About 260 production and maintenance personnel at Kemess are represented by the Union.

The new agreement sees annual wage increases of 4.5%, 4% and 4% plus increases to the benefits package.

A resumption of mining operations at Kemess is expected to resume over the next couple of days.
