SearchGold (RSG-V) is encouraged by gold results at its Bakoudou project in Gabon, central Africa.
Significant assays from an on-going drill program include:
- 16.65 metres grading 2.5 grams gold beginning at a downhole depth of 4.5 metres;
- 3.15 metres grading 15.1 grams gold at a depth of 57 metres, and further downhole at 70 metres, 1.8 metres grading 19.8 grams gold; and
- 22.75 metres grading 5.8 grams gold at a downhole depth of 28.6 metres. This includes 8.4 metres grading 11.5 grams gold per tonne.
Other significant results from another nine holes vary from 1.1-16.2 grams gold over 1-13.3 metres.
The drilling is being done on the oxide portion of Zone A of the Bakoudou structure. Two gold-bearing sub-parallel quartz veins are being drilled; the upper vein has a true width of up to 16.6 metres. The veins dip at 20 to the west-southwest.
Visible gold has been observed in the core from numerous drill holes. It occurs primarily as gold flakes, but occasionally is within late fractures. The veins appear to be thickening towards the south.
Mining consultant Met-Chem Canada is supervising infill drilling and will prepare a resource estimate. About 50 holes have been completed of a planned 82 hole, 5,000-metre program.
In addition a soil geochemical survey has tested a 2-km extension of the Bakoudou towards the northeast. Assays are pending.
