Saskatchewan opens new geology building

The new geology building of the University of Saskatchewan in Saskat oon will be officially opened Sept 19, by the province’s lieutenant-governor, F. W. Johnson.

Built at a cost of $18 million, the new building will house the university’s department of geological sciences.

It is designed to accommodate about 20 faculty and visiting scientists, a dozen research associates and post-doctoral fellows, more than 30 graduate students and some 100 4-year undergraduate majors in geology and geophysics. Approximately 750 students receive some instruction in geology each year, mostly in large introductory courses.
