Sanchez Mining, a wholly owned subsidiary of AZCO Mining (TSE), will construct a $40.6-million processing plant in southeastern Arizona.
The contract was awarded to Davy International, which has expertise in the construction of solvent extraction-electrowinning (SX-EW) plants. The plant will have a 12-million-ton-per-year crusher, together with heap-leaching and SX-EW facilities, and be capable of producing 56 million lb. per year of London Metal Exchange grade A cathode copper. The Sanchez project is scheduled to produce more than 1.1 billion lb. copper over its 20-year life.
