San Andreas Resources (TSE) is preparing an updated reserve estimate for its Prairie Creek mine property, 300 miles west of Yellowknife, N.W.T.
The company expects to release the information in January, after incorporating results from the 1993 program. The last published estimate was 3.2 million tons grading 13.35% lead, 15.61% zinc and 6.16 oz. silver per ton. The resource is contained within three zones (Nos. 3, 7 and 8), next to an existing mill which is capable of processing 1,200 tons per day. Recent exploration has focused on both vein-type and stratiform zinc-lead-silver deposits.
The 1993 program extended the Zone 3 deposit, results of which are listed below. A new zone (6) was found 2.1 miles from zone three and in a similar geological setting. This target was tested by two holes, one of which returned 26.2 ft. of 1.81% lead, 4.73% zinc and 0.41 oz. silver per ton. The second hole intersected a pyritic zone.
Several showings on the northern claims were discovered during 1993 and more trenching and drilling are planned for this year.
Results from drilling on Zone 3 are as follows:
