. . . An in-depth brief was presented (in 1992) to the Ontario Workers Compensation Board (WCB) concerning the calculation of the earning basis (benefits to be paid to the injured worker).
Our brief expressed the industry’s concerns that the WCB’s method of calculation did not reflect the true earnings of our industry’s field employees.
A similar issue is presently being addressed in Quebec with the CSST. Quebec and Ontario have both brought in various changes in calculating the assessment on employees. It is the WCB’s contention that this issue would increase the employers total assessment by only 4-6%. Our figures show that the increase would be closer to 30% . . .
