Encouraging gold assays are reported from a $500,000 underground program recently completed on Sable Resources’ Quartzrock Creek gold property near Cassiar, B.C.
The No 2 vein has been exposed by a decline and a crosscut 100 ft to the west and assayed 0.814 oz gold per ton over 5 ft and 0.337 oz over 10 ft. A 250-ft strike length west of the crosscut has been tested by three drill holes which intersected 0.47 oz over 10 ft, 0.337 oz over 11.5 ft and 0.197 oz over 9.5 ft. Drifting to the west of this vein is now in progress and initial results are encouraging, President Melvyn Rahal says.
The area contains five additional mineralized veins and these and the No 2 vein are open along strike for some 1,500 ft. Sable plans to follow up with a $300,000 surface program this year, including trenching and drilling. The property is adjacent to the Taurus 150-ton- per-day mill which will be available for processing the Sable ore.
