Rubicon hits more sulphides at Palmer (September 13, 1999)

Junior Rubicon Minerals (RMX-V) has intersected more sulphides while testing the RW zone at its wholly owned Palmer project, near Haines, Alaska.

Partial results from hole 12 returned an 8.3-ft. interval averaging 5.85% zinc and 1.89% copper, plus 0.99 oz. silver and 0.006 oz. gold per ton. Included in this section was a zinc-rich zone that assayed 8.64% zinc and 1.41% copper over 5.3 ft., as well as a copper-rich zone that returned 3.04% copper and 3.18% zinc over 4.5 ft.

Hole 12 was drilled from the same pad as previously reported holes 10 and 11. Hole 10 returned 15 ft. grading 4.01% zinc, 0.4% copper and 0.46 oz. silver, whereas hole 11 cut 7.4 ft. of 4.9% zinc, 0.03% copper and 2.98 oz. silver.

The new intersection extends mineralization at the RW zone by about 180 ft., updip from hole 10.

Rubicon says core from hole 13 reveals a 7.4-ft interval of disseminated-to-massive sulphides with visual sphalerite. Assays are pending. The hole was collared 170 ft. east and 260 ft downdip of the initial three holes.

This new intercept extends the RW zone mineralization 260 ft. downdip and 170 ft. east of the discovery section. Drilling indicates that the mineralized horizon steepens to the east.

Another drill pad is being built, 400 ft. south and 525 ft. east of hole 13; it will test the on-strike potential of the RW zone. The zone remains open in all directions and at depth.

The RW zone is in a previously unexplored region, about 600 ft. from the Little Jarvis showing and 1,600 ft. from the Upper Main zone showing. The RW structure is a flat, mineralized corridor that connects the two showings.
