RTZ-CRA changes name

The dual-listed company formed by the merger of British-based RTZ and Australian-based CRA will henceforth be listed under two names: Rio Tinto PLC and Rio Tinto Ltd., respectively.

The companies merged in December 1995, becoming, in effect, a single business entity and the largest mining company in the world.

Existing share certificates will remain unaffected by the name change, though the stock symbols for the companies will change. Rio Tinto PLC will trade as RTP on the New York Stock Exchange and on the London Stock Exchange as RIO.

Rio Tinto Ltd. will trade on the Australian exchange as RIO.
