Royex taking centre stage

When the Royex Mining group of companies announced its plan to amalgamate and form what could be Canada’s third largest gold producer, the story gained quite an audience but no one expected the show would end up on stage.

But when the companies went looking for a place to hold the special meetings for all five companies involved, everything was booked. Royex director Myron Gottlieb, however, happens to be vice-chairman and chief administrative officer of Cineplex Odeon, a company that owns a chain of movie theatres. Just like in the movies, he stepped in to save the day.

So, appearing June 3 with a cast of thousands at the Market Square Theatre in Toronto will be the special meetings of Royex Gold Mining (TSE), International Corona Resources (TSE), Lacana Mining (TSE), Mascot Gold Mines (TSE) and Galveston Resources (TSE).

Apparently, plans are to hold all five meetings in one room so those who serve as directors of more than one of the companies will be able to participate in more than one of the meetings.

Will the climax be tragic, comic or perhaps romantic? The audience awaits.
