Having drilled 94 holes, totalling 12,200 metres, on the Beaver Brook antimony property near Grand Falls, Nfld., Roycefield Resources (ASE) is preparing to carry out additional drilling and underground exploration on one of two zones.
The East zone hosts 760,000 tonnes averaging 4.43% antimony to a depth of 100 metres. This year’s program will test the zone to a depth of 200 metres, as well as test the 500-metre, on-strike extension which is coincident with an antimony soil anomaly.
Roycefield also plans to put in a decline and complete underground exploration and development on the zone. To determine the extent of the mineralized structures, mapping and sampling will be carried out. This work will get under way once permits have been obtained from the provincial government.
The second area of mineralization, known as the Central zone, contains 159,700 tonnes averaging 5.28% antimony. Together, both zones contain about 92 million lb. of antimony, which could sustain a mine over nine years. Antimony recoveries are in the 96% range and the ore is reportedly free of contaminants, making it easier to process and market.
