The Timmins division of Royal Oak Mines (TSE) achieved more than one million manhours of consecutive service without experiencing a lost-time accident.
The record was confirmed by staff of the Mines Accident Prevention Association of Ontario, where the operation is situated. It is only the third time such a record has been reached in Ontario, and the first time ever in the gold mining group.
Royal Oak President Margaret Witte said safety in the workplace is one of the company’s top priorities, and she congratulated employees for “a job well done.”
