Torr Metals’ (TSXV: TMET) first drill program at its Kolos copper-gold project in south-central British Columbia has confirmed it’s on the edge of a large mineralizing system, President and CEO Malcolm Dorsey said.
Torr drilled an initial 2,700 metres late last year at Kolos, located between Merritt and Kamloops, near Teck Resources’ (TSX: TECK.A | TECK.B) Highland Valley mine about 30 km to the west and New Gold’s (TSX, NYSE-A: NGD) New Afton mine roughly 30 km north. It had spent the past two years narrowing multiple target areas to three main porphyry zones.
“We’re looking for something that’s high-grade, mid-range tonnage,” Dorsey told The Northern Miner last month during an industry event. The company positions the project as a potential future feedstock source in a district where several mines are expected to decline over the next few decades.
A second round of about 6,000 metres drilling is to start by May, to test another undrilled porphyry target about 1 km to the northwest.
