Partial drill results from the Chama project in Peru indicate the presence of widespread but low-grade mineralization for Corriente Resources (CTQ-T).
Drill holes 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 were drilled in the south zone, whereas holes 4, 7 and 8 were drilled in the north zone. Holes 1 to 4 returned grades in the range of 0.1 to 0.5 gram gold per tonne, and large intersections of quartz and quartz-breccia mineralization were seen in the holes.
Alteration zones at surface returned gold values of 1 to 2 grams over 90 metres. Similar widths were intersected in the drill holes.
Assays from holes 5 to 8 are incomplete, though Corriente says they include intercepts of up to 20 metres averaging between 0.6 and 0.85 gram gold.
Drilling is currently focused on a newly exposed 100-Metre-wide hematite zone, which previously returned surface samples averaging 2 grams gold.
