Gold mineralization continues to be intersected at Rio Narcea Gold Mines’ (TSE) El Valle and Boinas projects in northern Spain.
A fourth phase of stepout drilling on Boinas intersected a new zone of mineralization referred to as the Boinas West. BW-8 hit 18.3 metres which averaged 7 grams per tonne.
Other drilling, at Boinas East, has extended the known zone of mineralization to the south and southeast. BOI 36 returned 21.3 metres which ran 2.6 grams, and BOI 37 hit 8.6 metres which ran 4.7 grams.
Drilling was also conducted at the Valle property, where hole VAL-53 intersected 18.8 metres averaging 10.1 grams (including 4.4 metres which ran 35.6 grams, while VAL-54 cut 12.9 metres which ran 3.2 grams). In 1995, a fifth phase of drilling will explore new targets within the two properties. Also, the company hopes to begin calculating reserves on the Valle and Boinas deposits by mid-year.
