Reserves boosted at Palmarito

Great Lakes Minerals (TSE) has increased reserves at the Palmarito silver-gold project in Mexico’s Sinaloa state.

A 51-hole program expanded reserves by 45%, to 3.4 million tonnes grading 141 grams silver and 0.54 gram gold per tonne. Gold-equivalent ounces at the deposit now exceed 300,000.

Adjacent waste dumps from previous mining, in the early 1900s, host additional reserves of 250,000 tonnes grading 281 grams silver and 0.53 gram gold.

The drilling tested 700 metres of strike along the mineralized unit, which is known to strike for more than 3 km. The majority of the silver and gold reserves occur above the 60-metre level and are expected to be amenable to open-pit mining.
