Some mining engineers and professionals will be heading to Reno, Nev., this fall to learn how to have a blast without gambling.
They’ll be attending a course, from Oct. 13 to 14, on blast design and assessment for surface and underground mines and quarries. Sponsored by Golder Associates, the course will be taught by blasting specialists William Forsyth, Alan Cameron and Tim Kleine.
The course will review blasting theory and products, as well as focus on blast design and practices.
Registrants have the option of attending an additional course on Oct. 15, in which A.L. McAnuff discusses blast vibration and airblast monitoring.
The 2-day course costs US$550, whereas the 3-day version is US$825. Deadline for registration is Oct. 13. For more information, phone Graeme Major of Golder Associates at (775) 828-9604.
