Congratulations are due to Robert (Ned) Reid for his response letter (T.N.M., July 31-Aug. 6/00). Congratulations are also due to The Northern Miner for printing it.
I have known Mr. Reid personally for many years, both as an employee and a friend. He is one of the more competent geologists I have known in my 45 years in the mining industry. He is not an “arm-waving” theoretical geologist-type but, rather, a careful mechanic whose skills lean more towards engineering and the practical application of geological knowledge relating to “making ore.”
Furthermore, it seems almost redundant to state that exploration has never been tougher, especially for juniors . . . but you scab up a few poles between two spruce trees, and cram your core box in there somehow.
