Metallurgical tests on four bulk samples from the Red Chris deposit in north-central British Columbia indicate the mineralization can be processed by standard flotation techniques.
American Bullion Minerals (VSE) reports that typical results from 12 flotation tests indicate recoveries of 87% and 69% for copper and gold, respectively, resulting in concentrates grading 28.3% copper and 15.6 grams gold per tonne.
Grades of the test material averaged 0.67% copper, plus 0.51 gram gold and 10 grams silver per tonne. That compares with the recently calculated in situ geological resource of 100.1 million tonnes grading 0.58% copper and 0.46 gram gold.
The bulk-sample work to date has concentrated on chalcopyrite stockwork mineralization. Additional work is now being performed on bulk samples which represent the deeper, high-grade, copper-rich bornite mineralization. Red Chris is 220 km north of the port of Stewart (the nearest supply of hydroelectric power) and is within 10 km of B.C. Rail’s graded right-of-way to Deese Lake. The finished railhead is about 120 km to the south. American Bullion owns an 80% interest in the property, while Teck (TSE) holds the balance. Teck can boost its interest to 55% by funding the project through to production, with American Bullion retaining a carried interest.
