Record Production from El Mochito Operations

Since reopening the El Mochito base metal operations in Honduras last October, American Pacific Mining (VSE) says it achieved record combined lead and zinc production levels during the month of August.

Zinc concentrate production was 6,605 tons and lead concentrate was 2,329 tons for a combined total of 8,934 tons. The mill processed 63,739 dry short tons of ore, another record since the operation was reopened.

As previously reported (N.M., Aug 15/88), an underground drilling exploration program was undertaken in the lower San Juan orebody and four drill holes intersected high grade zinc ore. A fifth hole has been drilled which intersected 87 ft assaying 24.84% zinc, 1.96 oz silver per ton, 1.34% lead and 0.98% copper. The company plans to continue drilling to further delineate the lower San Juan.
