Record price for Nymex seat (April 18, 1994)

A seat on the New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex) has sold for a record US$425,000.

The previous high of US$400,000 was set in December. The commodity exchange, a major dealer in oil futures and options as well as platinum and palladium futures, has 816 publicly traded seats.
