Rayrock Yellowknife Resources (TSE) will receive the 1993 DuPont-Conoco Environmental Leadership Award, which honors exceptional environmental achievement in the hard rock mining industry.
The announcement was made at the annual meeting of the American Mining Congress in San Francisco.
Nominees for the award, established in 1990 by DuPont Co., must demonstrate a special awareness and commitment to environmental excellence through planning, performance and technology.
Rayrock has interests in three gold mines in Nevada: Dee, Pinson and Marigold. Among the specific achievements cited was Rayrock’s long-standing and unique concurrent reclamation program, which commits the company to taking care of its reclamation responsibilities as it goes along, instead of after a project has been completed.
