Ramp intersects vein structure at Hemlo Gold, Central Crude bet

The ramp intersected the No 8 vein structure at the 4900 and 4880 levels about 264 ft and 330 ft (respectively) vertically below the vein exposure on surface.

Horizontal drifting to date totalling 781 ft on the 4900 level and 1,323 ft on the 4880 level has been completed along strike of the No 8 vein both east and west of the ramp.

The companies report the No 8 vein structure has been continuous along the entire length of both levels with widths of quartz veining exceeding the full average drifting width of 12.5 ft along most of the way. Full width of the vein is being determined with short horizontal holes being drilled into the drift walls.

Face chip sampling and muck samples on the 4900 level, from drifting west along a length of 482 ft, have returned preliminary assay results averaging 0.32 oz gold per ton (uncut) or 0.19 oz when assays above one ounce are arbitrarily cut to one ounce.

Drifting to the west on the 4880 level along 643 ft also intersected ore-grade values, indicating an average 0.16 oz uncut and 0.14 oz cut across the 12.5-ft drift width.

The companies report the above grades are below the anticipated ore reserve grade because of dilution from waste extracted when the drift is off the vein structure.

Drifting east from the ramp on the 4900 and 4880 levels has advanced 131 ft and 469 ft, respectively.

The current phase-one underground exploration program should be completed in November at a cost of about $10.2 million. Vein material hauled to the surface will be tested at the mill of Hemlo Gold’s Golden Giant mine at Hemlo.

A phase-two program estimated to cost $8.5 million is to begin immediately. When that program is completed in mid-1990, a feasibility study will be undertaken.

Other drill targets on the property include the northeast striking Hilltop vein about one mile east of the No 8 vein, and the east-west striking Falcon zone about four miles east of the No 8 vein.

Hemlo Gold has a 60% interest in the project and Central Crude a 40% interest.
