I was wondering if you have any information on a company called Scintilore Explorations. I was wondering what kind of projects the company is involved with, and where it is currently exploring.
Toronto-based Scintilore Explorations, perhaps best known for its lawsuit against prospectors John Larche and Donald McKinnon over proceeds related to the Hemlo gold camp in northern Ontario, is considering resuming work programs at its Big Hill project in Maine, its sole exploration program.
Big Hill consists of five adjoining properties prospective for gold and silver-zinc mineralization. Previous work in the 1980s identified a resource of about 150 million tons grading 1 to 2.5 oz. silver per ton, as well as 1.5 to 2.5% combined zinc-lead.
As for its long-standing lawsuit, Scintilore first launched legal proceedings against Larche and McKinnon in April 1987, alleging that Larche staked seven claims in the Hemlo gold camp in 1979 for himself without notifying Scintilore, to which he was under contract.
The two prospectors pooled their interests in the area, and their claims became the sites of the David Bell gold mine and adjacent Quarter Claim property, both of which are equally owned by Teck (TEK-T) and Homestake Mining (HM-N), as well as the Golden Giant gold mine, wholly owned by Battle Mountain Canada (bmc-t).
Scintilore is suing Larche and McKinnon for past and future proceeds related to the staking and sale of the Hemlo properties, including a 3% net smelter return royalty from both the David Bell mine and the Quarter Claim, as well as stock the prospectors received. The parties will meet in court on April 12, 1999.
