Query Aldermac was Ascot

I’d like to know what happened to Aldermac Copper Corp. I understand it was bought by Ascot Metals Corp. in 1949. I’d like to know the name of the present company which took over Aldermac Copper. F. J. B., Toronto, Ont.

Assets of Aldermac Copper Corp., a low grade copper producer in northwestern Quebec which was incorporated in 1936 and started operations in 1937, were seized by its bondholders in 1946, and the company went into liquidation.

Its affairs were wound up a couple of years after that. There was no equity for shareholders.

Several years later, Ascot Metals Corp. took over the Aldermac Moulton Hill mine and resumed production at the mine in 1950. Ascot Metals changed its name to Quebec Ascot Copper Corp. in 1956, and Quebec Ascot was wound up in 1974, after being dormant for several prior years.
