Queries Trans Columbia shares appear worthless

As a member of an investment group which owns shares in Consolidated Trans Columbia Industries Ltd., I would like to know what has happened to this formerly Vancouver-listed company.

A couple of years ago, the ConsTran issue stopped trading and despite a number of letters to the company, I have been unable to find out why. B.H., Honolulu, Hawaii.

According to our records, Consolidated Trans Columbia Industries Ltd. ceased trading April 6, 1982, and was officially struck off the register and dissolved Dec 5, 1986.

Transfer agent Guaranty Estates of Vancouver says the shares are now worthless and any further enquiries should be directed to Cam Lindsay at Suite P7, 2125 York Ave., Vancouver, B.C. V6K 1C4.

However, when The Northern Miner attempted to reach that address by calling (604) 734-9325, we found that the phone had been disconnected.

Before the cease trading order was placed in 1982, Cons Trans had an option on a placer gold property near Atlin, B.C. It was also preparing to begin placer production at an optioned property in the Similkameen Valley.

However, as reported (N.M., Sept 9/82), the company ran into financial difficulties after unsuccessfully attempting a financing through the Vancouver Stock Exchange.

We are unable to obtain any more information on this company.
