Would you please provide a corporate overview on two stocks listed on the Vancouver Stock Exchange? They are Nucal Resources and Lawrence Mining Corp. I am particularly interested in their total shares outstanding and also if both are up-to-date on their required filings. R.H.S. Fredericton, N.B.
While Nucal Resources cannot be reached at its Calgary address — the phone has been disconnected — the company is no longer trading on the Vancouver Stock Exchange. On July 31, trading was suspended pending clarification of the company’s affairs. That suspension order is still in effect.
According to the vse public relations department, Nucal shares were priced at 25 cents on June 25, the last day on which they traded.
There were 1,769,103 shares outstanding at that time.
Nucal was formerly an oil exploration company called Calpetro Resources which discovered a number of oil wells in the Keg River, B.C., area. Under an agreement with Golden Rule Resources, Calpetro also had some properties in British Columbia’s Cariboo Mining district. As reported (N.M., March 7/85), the company changed its name to Nucal on a 5-old-for-1- new share basis and increased its authorized capital to $20 million.
Subsequently the company has been primarily engaged in oil and gas exploration, development and production but it also has a number of gold claims in its portfolio of properties. They include some joint venture claims in Harrison, B.C., and 19 gold claims in the Sturgeon Lake region of northwestern Ontario.
You have to go back to 1982 to find any reference to Lawrence Mining in this publication. At that time, the Vancouver-based resource development company had discovered a 66-ft intersection averaging 0.57% copper and 0.24 oz silver per ton at its Vimy prospect near Merritt, B.C. While the Vimy property is still in Lawrence’s portfolio, the company is waiting for copper prices to rise to around $1.25 before taking another look at its potential. Other properties include some gold/silver claims including a former producer east of Rairview Camp, Osoyoos div., B.C.
At press time, Lawrence was trading on the Vancouver Stock Exchange at 11 cents , in a range of 20 cents and 6 cents . There are currently 4,138,032 shares outstanding (150,000) escrowed.
