I purchased 5,000 shares of Kanstate Resources in October, 1983, on the Alberta Stock Exchange.
I received word in October, 1984, that the shares were to be consolidated, 3-for-1 and the company’s name was to be changed to Amtec Petroleum Corp.
In July, 1985, I recieved word from the company’s transfer agent (Canada Trust) that Kanstate ceased trading on the ase effective July 31, 1985, and that Canada Trust had ceased to act as transfer agent. The shares were returned to me.
The company seemed to have lots going for it but I have not heard a word about it. Could you give me an an update on the company? O. J. G., Gloucester,Ont.
Well, you seem to have all the correct information on your company except for a slight spelling discrepancy in the company’s new name. We are told by Consumer and Corporate Affairs in Edmonton that Kanstate Resources changed its name to Amtech Petroleum Corp. in 1984.
However, since the company’s shares are no longer traded publicly, your 5,000 shares are worthless.
We have obtained a mailing address for Amtech and the phone number of John Bootsma, listed in Kanstate’s listing statement of 1981 as vice-president of the company. We have been unable, however, to contact him.
You can reach the company at 5008-49th Ave., Red Water, Alta., T0A2W0. Or try contacting Mr Bootsma at (403) 942-4366.
