A recent hole drilled at Queenston Mining’s (TSE) Amalgamated Kirkland property in Kirkland Lake, Ont., has returned a 27.9-ft. intersection grading 0.19 oz. gold per ton.
Hole AK92-45 was one of four holes completed by project operator Battle Mountain Canada, a unit of Battle Mountain Gold (TSE). The holes were drilled to test for extensions of the 102-103
zone where previous hole AK92-39A intersected 0.17 oz. gold per ton over 100.4 ft. at a vertical depth of 1400 ft. (T.N.M., April 6/92). Hole AK92-45 intersected the 102-103 zone 460 ft. above hole AK-92-39A.
Two other holes drilled below Hole AK92-39A intersected the zone but encountered no significant gold assays. A fourth hole, AK92-42, intersected the 102-103 zone 590 ft. east of hole AK92-39A, but also lacked gold values. However, this hole intersected a new gold zone, the 104 zone, which assayed 0.49 oz. over 2 ft.
The 102-103 gold zone now extends laterally for 5,000 ft. and remains open below 2,500 ft.
Completion of this drill program brings Battle Mountain’s total expenditures to nearly $3 million. These expenditures plus payments of $175,000 to Queenston by June, 1993, will grant Battle Mountain a 50% interest in the property.
