Queenston begins second phase drilling

The second phase of a diamond drill program on Queenston Mining’s (TSE) Upper Beaver mine project in Gauthier Twp., Ont., has commenced. Pamorex Minerals (TSE) is earning a 51% interest in the property through exploration expenditures of $1.75 million and cash payments of $200,000 by November, 1991. Queenston says four holes totalling 8,000 ft. will be completed by the end of March. The holes will follow up a gold intersection of 0.25 oz. per ton over 38 ft. encountered in a hole (89-4) drilled in December. This hole intersected a thick pyritic-cherty horizon 450 ft. below the mine workings, in a previously unexplored portion of the property. The nature and width of the intersection differ from gold mineralization previously discovered on the Upper Beaver, and may be amenable to bulk mining methods, said Queenston President Hugh Harbinson.

The Upper Beaver mine, 15 miles east of Kirkland Lake, operated periodically 1920-1971, producing 125,000 oz. gold and 11 million lb. copper.
