Mining and exploration companies are boasting about the $698million the Quebec government has set aside in its recent budget for road infrastructure projects in northern Quebec to confront the recession.
One project will see Highway 167 extended from Chibougamau to the Otish Mountains, costing $130 million.
The other project will see $568 million spent on repairs to Highway 389 between Baie-Comeau and Fermont.
The government will also spend $106 million to improve northern airports.
Western Troy Capital Resources (WRY-V) pointed out that the proposed extension of Highway 167 would pass within 70 km of its MacLeod Lake molybdenum-copper project.
Other projects helped by this extension include Strateco Resources (RSC-T) Matoush uranium project located and Eastmain Resources (ER-T EANRF-O) Eastmain copper-gold projects
Stornoway Diamond (SWY-T) said the extension would connect its remote Renard diamond project, a joint venture with the Quebec government agency, SOQUEM.
