Vancouver — A 6-hole drill program by Quaterra Resources (QTA-V, QURAF-O) will test a hot spring gold-silver system at the 56.5-sq.-km Los Crestones property, situated 12 km east of the Inde mining district in Durango state, Mexico, and 50 km from the La Pitarrilla silver project being advanced by Silver Standard Resources (SSO-T, SSRI-Q).
The Crestones hydrothermal system consists of three elongate siliceous hydrothermal silica breccia bodies that range from 500 to 1,500 metres in strike length, and 75 to 150 metres in width. The drill program will test all three of the hydrothermal breccia bodies. Geological mapping will continue to trace the extent of the largest breccia body where it continues into a large area of silicified limestone.
Quaterra has other projects in Mexico, including a 50% interest in the Nieves silver project in Zacatecas state. The property is believed to have potential for “Fresnillo-style” underground high-grade veins, as well as bulk-tonnage silver mineralization.
The company is also exploring uranium projects in Arizona and Nevada, and has several base metal projects in Alaska.
