The wholly-owned subsidiary, American Limestone, paid about $2.1 million(US) for Acme Stone, whose quarry is located about 130 miles northeast of Knoxville and 30 miles from American Limestone’s closest quarry.
Asarco has traditionally been a base metals producer. American Limestone produces aggregates which are used principally in asphalt, transit mix concrete, concrete block, concrete pipe, precast concrete, erosion control and agricultural limestone.
