Pursuit steps up work programs

Toronto-based junior International Pursuit (IPJ-T) continues to hunt for gold on several properties in Indonesia.

* Among the most advanced of these is the L-N prospect, which forms part of the 191,000-ha Serigi contract of work (CoW) in Kalimantan. The prospect straddles the Sebuluh fault, in an area known for its gold anomalies and alluvial gold washings.

Three reconnaissance holes were drilled, with the best intersection being 6 metres (from 40 to 46 metres) grading 9.65 grams gold per ton. The interval is seen as indicative of a gold-bearing zone that has been traced on surface over 450 metres.

* At another prospect, Forest Road, geological mapping and sampling are under way. The prospect lies in an area of argillized and chloritized sedimentary and volcanic rock.

* At the 264,100-ha Sibau prospect, stream-based prospecting has been carried out over a 50-sq.-km area of the Sungai Jeng Karang stream system, where brecciated rock and alteration zones were noted. Geochemical results are pending.

* At the Jurassic Park prospect, situated in the 264,000-ha Kaso block, rock sampling is under way. The largest area of interest is characterized by intense quartz veining, and a similar geological setting has been identified 4 km to the south.

* Exploration is also under way on the Mahakan East and West blocks, which are on strike with a rift structure that begins in the Jurassic Park prospect.

Pursuit has contracted World Geoscience to fly 40,000 km of airborne geophysics (mostly over Pursuit’s central blocks), results from which are expected in late June.

Meanwhile, Pursuit’s partner and takeover target, Dayak Goldfields (DAYK-C), is carrying out a 6-hole program of reconnaissance drilling on the Sebuluh Hill gold prospect, which forms part of the 191,000-ha Sintang CoW.

Prior surveys had outlined a zone 2 km long and 1 km deep, which Dayak believes could be a low-grade porphyry and/or replacement skarn deposit.

Pursuit’s and Dayak’s holdings in Indonesia cover a total area of 5 million ha.
