Production looks possible at Aur’s Quebec gold bets

Toronto-based Aur Resources has intersected what the company calls very high-grade gold mineralization at two of its Quebec exploration projects.

The 3-claim property is adjacent to the Norlartic mine. Aur says a horizontal drill hole drilled from the 750-ft level, at the Kierens zone gold deposit on the First Canadian property 12 miles west of Val d’Or, Que., intersected 3.21 oz gold per ton over 3.1 ft.

While drilling to obtain rock stability information, the high grade gold was encountered at the beginning of the hole, while a further 2.44 oz over 13.3 ft from 28.7 to 42 ft was also discovered.

Aur says shaft deepening to a depth of 1,410 ft has been completed and a 30,000-ft drill program on the 1,300-ft level is now in progress. When this program is completed, Aur says a production feasibility study will be carried out in November.

In other news, Aur intersected 14 ft of 0.42 oz gold at its Hewfran property at Desmaraisville, Que. The mineralization was encountered at a vertical depth of 1,150 ft in hole 19501-37.

According to the company, this hole is located 100 ft west of hole 19501-12 which intersected 15.9 ft averaging 0.35 oz and 100 ft east of hole 19501-16 which intersected 19.5 ft of 0.32 oz.

The same exploration program, has also confirmed ore-grade gold mineralization on the 1,225-ft level, the company says. Drifting in the zone has yielded assays of 0.16 oz for the first 78 ft over a full drift width of 8 ft including 0.20 oz over 46 ft.

The company is also drifting on the 925-ft and 1,225-ft levels with a total of 1,200 ft planned. If results of 7,500 ft of underground diamond drilling prove positive, production could follow in early 1988.
