Pretium Resources (TSX: PVG; NYSE: PVG) has made a new high-grade gold discovery at the Golden Marmot zone on its Brucejack property in British Columbia, Canada, located roughly 3.5 km north of its Valley of the Kings deposit.

The company received assays for the first nine drill holes, eight of which intersected gold with a highlight of 53.5 metres grading 72.5 grams gold per tonne including 50 centimetres grading 6,700 grams gold per tonne and 3,990 grams silver per tonne.

“Initial results from Golden Marmot are exciting and affirm the district-scale potential of the Brucejack property,”  Jacques Perron, the company’s president and CEO,  said in a statement.

The gold mineralization covers a zone that is about 150 metres in width, 250 metres in length and 275 metres in depth, and occurs in the same host rocks and with the same alteration signature as the Valley of the Kings deposit. This, according to Pretium, is an indication that it could be a new high-grade deposit.

Golden Marmot’s proximity and existing trail access would make it relatively easy to integrate into future mine plans as an independent source of mineralized material to supply the Brucejack mill.

“Golden Marmot is only the first of several zones drill tested this year with results still to come from Gossan Hill, Bridge Zone and Hanging Glacier,” Perron said. “All of these targets have the potential to deliver game-changing results and are within four km of the Brucejack mine infrastructure.”

The company said it remains on track to produce 325,000 ounces to 365,000 ounces of gold at an all-in sustaining cost of between US$1,060 per oz. and US$1,190 per oz. in 2021.

In June, Pretium began replacing its diesel trucks with a fleet of seven (with the option of eight), battery electric vehicles (BEVs) at Brucejack.

Sandvik started the distribution of its Sandvik Z50 battery-electric haul trucks in July, with a final delivery date for the entire fleet expected in early 2023.
