Employees at Noranda’s (TSE) Central Canada potash mine recently voted 66% in favor of a new 2-year wage contract that provides for a 10.2% wage increase over the life of the contract.
Set to expire April 30, 1993, the new wage deal also provides for improvements in the pension, severance pay and dental plans of the 381 workers employed at the 1.5 million-tonne-per-year operation.
The employees, represented by the United Steelworkers of America, Local 7656, voted on the contract May 22.
